Moya Matcha - Sumomo bowl

Matchawan Sumomo with a spout The Sumomo Matchawan is the latest in our collection of matcha bowls, one of the key elements of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. Its distinctive shape, with low walls and wide bottom, allows for easy whisking and creating a perfect froth known as the “jasper mousse”. The spout ensures that you don’t spill the matcha when pouring it into the glass. The bowl’s name is inspired by the Japanese plum, sumomo. According to a Japanese legend, offering sumomo plums to the gods helped the famed warrior Minamoto Noriyoshi win a battle. In Japan, it’s believed that consuming Sumomo plums wards off evil spirits and illness.
